This was my first time overseas and I studied at ims for 12 weeks, from 29 January to 20 April.
Before I came to the Philippines I had heard a lot of bad news. But since I left the airport, the warmth and smiles of the Filipinos have made me realised that all my fears were too much.
The location of ims is perfect, no need to worry about safety at all, there are three shopping malls nearby, lots of restaurants and cafes, very convenient. My favourite part is the rooftop where I can see the sunset every day and enjoy studying and chatting with my friends.
My teachers always encouraged me and gave me the confidence to speak English and I was able to talk to other students in English within a week of arriving here. In addition to this, the teachers gave me lots of advice
about life. Because I have a very sensitive nose, I had an allergy twice time. The teachers taught me how to buy medicine and tips to speed up my recovery.
During the weekend I explored many local places and got to know the Philippines better. My teachers said I had become a Filipina. I recommend the Carbon night market and camping in Olango island if you want to experience local life too.
I am very grateful for everything here and it made my first experience of living and studying abroad a great one. Apart from the improvement in English, the local experience and the friendships of different nationalities were invaluable gains from the trip.
